While it is a nationally ranked Constitutional Law Journal, the First Amendment Law Review is also a student organization, and we strive to give our Staff Writers valuable experience writing and editing legal scholarship. Each Staff Writer writes a publishing-quality Note, a Blog Post, and they complete 6 cite checks.
How do I join FALR?
The First Amendment Law Review staffs the journal through the University of North Carolina School of Law’s Joint Journal Competition (JJC), commonly known as a “write-on.” The JJC is open to all rising 2Ls, 3Ls, and transfer students at the University of North Carolina School of Law.
How can I become an Editor at FALR?
The First Amendment Law Review opens its Executive and Editorial Board applications in the Spring each year. Any law student at UNC who was a staff member on any journal may apply, but applicants must have taken First Amendment Law to be eligible for Editor in Chief, Executive Editor, or Chief Article and Notes Editor.
