Google"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As books are becoming electronic, people are now conducting\u00a0more research online instead of venturing into bookstores and\u00a0libraries. The number of bookstores in the nation is declining as\u00a0people replace the relationship they once had with these stores\u00a0with online sources. Particularly, in services such as Google\u00a0Books, people use search engines to browse books in the same\u00a0manner they would as if they were in a store. The lawsuit between\u00a0Authors Guild and Google has been ongoing for over a decade,\u00a0and the case largely turns on the question of fair use. However,\u00a0fair use in certain situations fails by putting an undue burden on\u00a0authors to help benefit the general public. Therefore, there needs\u00a0to be an alternate legal avenue in place to address this problem.\u00a0This Recent Development argues that, in light of preserving the\u00a0access of information to the public, the law should be amended to\u00a0allow for compulsory licensing so that information may be widely\u00a0dispersed while being sensitive to the significant contributions of\u00a0Google and the Authors Guild.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As books are becoming electronic, people are now conducting\u00a0more research online instead of venturing into bookstores and\u00a0libraries.
