The line seems to be moving even more\u00a0slowly than usual, and you glare ahead when you notice the hold\u00a0up\u2014Transportation Security Administration (\u201cTSA\u201d) officials\u00a0removing snakes and tortoises from a passenger\u2019s pants. This\u00a0bizarre scenario made headlines in 2011 after a traveler attempted\u00a0to sneak seven exotic reptiles onto his plane 1 and full-body\u00a0scanners discovered the snakes at the TSA checkpoint. Full-body\u00a0scanners not only uncover snakes, skulls, and chastity belts, but\u00a0also firearms and other dangerous items. In 2014, more than two\u00a0thousand firearms were successfully discovered at TSA\u00a0check points. However, in 2015 a leaked TSA report suggested\u00a0that, \u201cTSA screeners missed 95 percent of mock explosives and\u00a0banned weapons smuggled through checkpoints by screeners\u00a0testing the systems.\u201d While TSA critics repeated their calls to\u00a0reform or disband the agency, the TSA responded with a different\u00a0solution. Six months after this information came to light, the TSA\u00a0reformed regulations surrounding full body scanners. Full-body\u00a0scanners, or Advanced Imaging Technology (\u201cAIT\u201d), are already\u00a0used in most United States airports. On December 18, 2015, the\u00a0United States Department of Homeland Security issued a Privacy\u00a0Impact Assessment Update for TSA AIT.
