Here is the latest First Amendment news to help you get through those post-holiday Monday blues!!<\/p>\n<p>The Wisconsin high school students who appeared to perform a <a href=\"http:\/\/time.com\/5462563\/wisconsin-teens-viral-nazi-salute-photo-first-amendment\/\">Nazi salute in a prom photo<\/a> will not be disciplined by the school. Baraboo School District Administrator Lori Mueller said the students in the picture will not face any punishment because their actions are protected by the First Amendment.<\/p>\n<p>The Department of Justice submitted a statement of interest in the case, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fitsnews.com\/2018\/11\/21\/department-of-justice-weighs-in-on-sc-first-amendment-case\/\">Redeemer Fellowship of Edisto Island v. Town of Edisto Beach<\/a>. <\/em><em>The case<\/em> involves an allegation that the town of\u00a0Edisto Beach, South Carolina.\u00a0violated the church\u2019s constitutional rights by barring its members from renting space in the town civic center.<\/p>\n<p>Freedom Foundation Lawyers have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wweek.com\/news\/2018\/11\/24\/freedom-foundation-lawyers-file-another-lawsuit-seeking-dues-for-defecting-oregon-union-members\/\">filed another lawsuit<\/a> that seeks dues for defecting Oregon union members. This is the second federal lawsuit in Oregon following the U.S. Supreme Court decision in <em>Janus<\/em> that says union dues must be voluntary.<\/p>\n<p>An Ohio college professor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/news\/professor-sues-after-university-requires-he-use-students-preferred-pronoun\/\">is fighting back against the university<\/a> after being reprimanded for refusing to refer to a student with a pronoun that differs from his gender at birth. \u00a0The Alliance Defending Freedom has filed suit in U.S. District Court in Ohio on behalf of the professor.<\/p>\n<p>On November 19<sup>th<\/sup> the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals held that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.publicknowledge.org\/press-release\/public-knowledge-praises-9th-circuit-decision-rejecting-a-first-amendment-right-to-discriminate\">cable operators do not have a First Amendment right<\/a> to engage in discriminatory business practices.<\/p>\n<p>CNN&#8217;s Jim Acosta has returned to his post at the White House following a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2018\/11\/16\/media\/cnn-trump-lawsuit-hearing\/index.html\">court ruling<\/a> that forced the Trump administration to reinstate his press pass.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hope everyone had an enjoyable Thanksgiving!
