Here is your most recent First Amendment news to enjoy while sipping that pumpkin spice latte!<\/p>\n<p>Carolina Panthers Coach Ron Rivera defended the new player, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/sports\/2018\/10\/10\/panthers-coach-eric-reids-protest-i-believe-first-amendment\/?noredirect=on&amp;utm_term=.48361338b0fd\">Eric Reid\u2019s decision\u00a0<\/a>to continue protesting by kneeling during the national anthem. Reid stated that \u201cI believe in the First Amendment and that\u2019s all he did. He exercised his First Amendment.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The New York Times asked a federal judge on Friday to disclose the search warrants and supporting materials justifying the raid on the properties of President Donald Trump\u2019s personal attorney Michael Cohen. In a letter from N.Y. Times to Judge Pauley the Times acknowledged that \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.courthousenews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/NYT-Cohen.pdf\">The Second Circuit has not\u00a0<\/a>decided whether a First Amendment right of access applies to search warrant materials.\u201d In the letter,\u00a0the Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.courthousenews.com\/ny-times-fights-feds-on-michael-cohen-search-warrants\/\">states<\/a>\u201c[w]e make this request pursuant to the public\u2019s right of access to judicial records, grounded in both the federal common law and the First Amendment.\u201d The Cohen sentencing is set for December 12, 2018.<\/p>\n<p>The tension between the White House and Saudi Arabia continues to escalate over the suspected killing of a dissident Saudi journalist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/saudi-arabia-threatens-to-retaliate-after-u-s-pressure-over-journalists-disappearance-1539522239\">Jamal Khashoggi<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/opinion\/2018\/10\/15\/free-speech-protests-limits-call-out-mob-attacks-column\/1606294002\/\">Don Lemon,\u00a0<\/a>host of CNN Tonight, had an on-air meltdown that\u00a0culminated\u00a0in a declaration to\u00a0his audience that mistakenly suggests that you can exercise your First Amendment right wherever and whenever you want.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Happy Monday Morning!
